The Arai GP-7SRC ABP Narrow Eyeport is a pinnacle-tier, motorsport-certified helmet engineered primarily for top-level open-cockpit racing. It fully complies with the strict FIA 8860-2018 Advanced Ballistic Protection (ABP) standard, which has been mandatory in Formula 1 since 2019.
Key Technical Specifications
- Advanced Ballistic Protection (ABP): Designed specifically for open-cockpit racing, this specification requires the helmet to withstand a 225-gram projectile traveling at 250 km/h. To accommodate this extra reinforcing ballistic reinforcement, the eyeport opening is lowered by 10mm compared to standard GP-7 models.
- Super Racing Carbon (SRC) Shell: The outer shell features a proprietary hand-crafted carbon fibre weave engineered to flex upon impact rather than splintering or shattering. This structural flexibility transfers and dissipates energy more effectively into the multi-density hybrid inner shell.
- Aperture & Visor System: Features a positive-lock visor latch with a lever operation mechanism that makes opening and closing straightforward even while wearing racing gloves. The visor is fully prepared for F1-style tear-offs.
- Modular Ventilation System: The helmet arrives from the factory with the top vent holes left open. It includes a separate accessory package containing a Performance Enhancement Device (PED) spoiler kit alongside multiple styles of ventilation ducts (such as Tear Ducts, TDF3, and XDB2). This allows the driver to customize the airflow configuration depending on their specific cockpit seating position.
- Safety & Comfort Interiors: Equipped with a fully FIA-approved flame-retardant interior liner and emergency release tab cheek pads for quick medical extraction. It also features factory-installed M6 terminals for seamless FHR / HANS device compatibility.
