At 17, Zak Hussain has already made his mark in karting. With four years in owner karting, his rapid rise through the ranks reflects both his skill and determination. From championship victories to consistent podium finishes, his progress is worth following.
From Indoor Karting to Championship Success
Zak’s interest in motorsport began early, inspired by watching Formula 1. A trip to TeamSport Indoor Karting at 10 quickly turned competitive when he started representing TeamSport North London in the UK National Indoor Championship, securing a P3 finish. He then moved to corporate racing at RyeHouse, where he won five championships and set the Monaco Championship lap record.
Looking for the next step, he moved into owner kart racing in 2021, obtaining his MSUK licence and competing in some of the UK’s most challenging national championships. Despite working with a limited budget, his performances have been consistently strong.

Stepping onto the Big Stage
2024 has been a milestone year, both on and off the track. Being invited as a VIP guest at the Autosport Show was a standout moment and a reflection of how far he has come.
Looking Ahead to 2025
Zak is looking to race in Europe in 2025, aiming to gain more experience on international circuits. He’s focusing on refining his defensive driving skills and improving consistency—both crucial to success at the highest levels of karting.
Favourite Tracks & Racing Heroes
Whilton Mill is his favourite circuit, thanks to its technical layout that challenges both driver and kart. When it comes to inspiration, Sir Lewis Hamilton and Lando Norris top his list.
Best Race So Far
One of Zak’s strongest performances came at Round 5 of the 2024 WMKC Championship, where he secured pole position, won both heats, and led every lap of the final while setting the fastest lap each time.
The Future: From Karts to Cars
Zak’s long-term goal is to progress into single-seater racing (F4/GB4). He is actively searching for sponsorship to help him take the next step in his career.
Life Outside of Karting
Away from the track, Zak enjoys gaming, using his simulator to sharpen his racecraft, and watching F1, Boxing, and UFC. He also plays badminton and has a lesser-known talent—he used to play the piano.
Advice for Aspiring Racers
For young karters looking to get started, Zak’s advice is simple: Karting is an incredible experience, but it demands fitness, strength, and patience. Progress takes time.
Team & Coaching
Until May 2024, Zak raced as a privateer alongside his dad. He now competes with TW Racing and also coaches other drivers in the team.

Zak’s journey is supported by A Jewellers, BigB’Z, Minus 273, GT Omega, and MOZA, who play a key role in his racing career.
